PHẦN 15: COMMON PREPOSITIONS (MỘT SỐ GIỚI TỪ THÔNG DỤNG)
I.Prepositions of time:
 Thứ: on Monday, on Sunday
1. ON Ngày, tháng: on March 8th, on Christmas Day
	 Thứ + buổi: On Sunday morning
 Tháng/ Năm: in September, in 1975
2. IN Mùa : In Spring, In winter	 
 The + buổi: in the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening
 Giờ: at 6 o’clock, at 4:30
3. AT Tuổi : at the age of 7, at forteen
 Chú ý: + AT noon, at night, at midnight, at dawn
	 + At Christmas, at Easter, At lunchtime, at weekends / the weekend
	 + Nếu giới hạn bởi 2 mốc thời gian : from .. to. (from 4p.m to 6p.m)
II.Prepositions of place:
1. AT: chỉ vị trí , một điểm trong không gian hoặc địa chỉ có số nhà: Eg: at home, at work, at school, at university, 
 at the party, at the bus-stop, at the seaside, at 139 Lê Lợi Street, at the end of the street
2. ON: được dùng cho bề mặt của một vật, một nơi chốn hoặc tầng nhà
 + on a farm, on the road, on the table, on the floor, on the earth, ..
 + on the right, on the left
3. IN :dung để nói về mộ người hoặc một vật ở trong một nơi nào đó
 + in the garden, in the street, in the village, in the room, in the world,
 + in Regent street, in bed, in hospital, in prison,
* Chú ý: + At the sea / river / lake : gần biển / sông / hồ
	 + In the sea / river / lake : ở trong nước biển/ sông / hồ
III.Prepositions of movement (giới từ chuyển động): đến, tới
 TO : các động từ chuyển động thường đi với giới từ này: go to the cinema, get to the station, drive to..
*Chú ý: 
 1.arrive AT + địa điểm nhỏ: at the airport, at the station
	 IN + thành phố / thủ đô / nước : in Ha Nội, in Hồ Chí Minh city, In England, 
 2.leave (some place) FOR (some place): rời khỏi . đến .. 
IV.Prepositions of means: By + danh từ chỉ phương tiện
 Eg: by bus / car / bicycle / train / plane / air
 Nhưng; + ON foot, ON horse / horseback
	 + IN + the / my /his + car : in my car
V.Preposition of purpose ( giới từ chỉ mục đích): FOR + danh từ
 Eg: + for a walk, for a ride, for a swim, for a drink, .
 + for breakfast, for lunch, for dinner, for fun, for a change
VI.Prepositions before NOUNS ( Giới từ đứng trước danh từ):
By + mistake /chance: do lỗi lầm / tình cờ may mắn
By + writer: eg: By Shakespeare: tác phẩm được viết bởi Shakespeare
In my opinion: theo quan điểm của tôi
ON fire: cháy, hỏa hoạn
ON diet: ăn kiêng
On television / the radio / the phone: trên tivi / đài /bằng điện thoại
On holiday / business / a trip / a tour / an excursion: đang nghỉ mát / đi công tác / đang đi du lịch / đi dã ngoại
ON strike: đang đình công
*Chú ý: On holiday nhưng FOR a holiday / FOR my holiday(s)
VII.Prepositions after ADJECTIVES (Giới từ đứng sau tính từ):
ON: keen, dependent
IN: interested, rich, successful, absorbed
AT: clever, present, quick, skilful, bad, good, surprised, amazed, shocked, hopeless, excellent, brilliant, astonished
OF: afraid, ahead, aware, capable, full, confident, conscious, proud, ashamed, frightened, tired, jealous, fond, short, envious, worthy, independent
FOR: available, difficult, late, perfect, useful, convenient, famous, responsible, ready
TO: acceptable, accustomed, agreeable, kind, contrary, harmful, important, likely, lucky, open, pleasant, similar, rude, married, engaged, necessary, cruel
FROM: absent, different, safe
WITH: acquainted, crowded, friendly, bored, popular, pleased, disappointed, happy, satisfied, delighted, fed up, contrasted, busy, concerned (có liên quan đến), occupied
ABOUT: confused, sad, serious, worried, excited, nervous, concerned (lo lắng)
Chú ý: 	 at : giỏi về (môn học,)
 * good for : tốt, có lợi cho (sức khỏe)
 	 to : tốt với ai
	* angry / annoyed / furious about S.T nhưng: angry / annoyed / furious with S.O for (doing) S.T
	*responsible for S.T: chịu trách nhiệm về việc gì, responsible to S.O: chịu, có trách nhiệm với ai
	* familiar to S.O: quen thuộc với ai, familiar with S.T : biết rõ việc gì
	* grateful / thankful to S.O for S.T: cảm ơn ai về việc gì
	* It + be + kind/ nice/ stupid/ clever/ rude OF + S.O to do S.T: Ai thật tử tế / ngốc / thông minh /vô lễ làm gì
	* S + be + nice/ kind/ stupid/ rude/ friendly TO + S.O: Ai dễ thương / tốt bụng/ ngốc với ai
VIII.Prepositions after VERBS (Giới từ đứng sau động từ):
 1.is spoken / used / known as: được nói/ dùng / biết như	11.blame S.O for : khiển trách ai về
 2.regard .. as: coi . như 	12.introduce S.O to S.O: giới thiệu ai với ai 
 3.belong to; thuộc về, của ai	13.participate = take part in: tham gia vào
 4.provide / supply S.O with S.T: cung cấp cho ai cái gì	14.share ..... with: chia sẻ 
 5.apply for a job: xin việc	15. consist of : gồm có
6.protect.. from: bảo vê  khỏi .	16.compliment on: khen ngợi
 7.prevent . from .: ngăn . không cho làm gì	17. concentrate / focus on: tập trung vào
8.depend / rely / base on: phụ thuộc / dựa vào	18.translate into; dịch sang
9.die of: chết vì	19.write to S.O; viết cho ai	
 10.believe in : tin tưởng vào 	20. approve of; tán thành
