1. Tóm tắt bài giảng 
1. Lý thuyết 
QT6: Dùng the khi người nói ngầm chỉ 1 vật nhất định nào đó 
Be careful! You’re spiling coffee on the floor. 
QT7: The +noun+prep+the+noun (Danh từ được bổ nghĩa đằng sau bởi cụm giới từ thì phải dùng 
the) 
 Ví dụ: 
 + The back of this room is dirty. 
 + The man in the red shirt is my boss. 
QT8: Danh từ được bổ nghĩa đằng sau bởi mệnh đề quan hệ thì phải dùng the 
 Ví dụ: 
 +The teacher that we had last semester was especially good. 
 + The man that hired me yesterday left the company today. 
QT9: Không dùng a/an/the trước tên đường phố 
 Ví dụ: I live in the street nhưng I live in Phan Dinh Phung street 
QT10: Sự khác biệt giữa danh từ đếm được số nhiều và the + danh từ đếm được số nhiều: 
Ví dụ: Dogs are loyal. (Dogs chỉ loài chó) 
 The dogs that my mum bought yesterday are nice. 
QT11: Cách dùng the với tên trường: 
 Foreign trade university (Không có ‘the’) 
 The university of achitecture 
 QT12: Mạo từ thường không được dùng với tên nước, tên thành phố hoăc bang. Ngoại trừ một 
số trường hợp đặc biệt: The United States hoặc The United Kingdom 
 QT13: Dùng the trong so sánh nhất 
The most + adj 
The +adj-est 
 Ví dụ: 
+ The Graduate was one of the best movies I’ve ever seen. 
+ Alaska is the biggest state in the U.S.

1. Các cụm giới từ có “of” thường làm cho một từ trở thành xác định, vì vậy “the” được sử dụng. 
Tuy vậy, “of” và “the” còn đi với nhau theo những cách khác. Trong bài tập dưới đây, “of the” 
được dùng để cho thấy từ được nói đến là đặc biệt hoặc xác định. “Of the” không được dùng để 
khái quát hóa về từ đó.
