LESSON 4 : READ ( Page 75 ~ 79 )  

I/ OBJECTIVES :By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to understand the text about one of the social problems : Why many peopleare living their home in the country togo and live in the city and the problems these people cause .

II/ LANGUAGE CONTENTS :

+ Vocabulary : Learn to read and write some new words

• Adjectives : rural, urban .

• Nouns : strain, typhoon, drought, struggle, migrant, increase .

+ Grammar : Practice the Present progressive tense by talking about the future.

I/ OBJECTIVES :By the end of the lesson, Sts will be able to understand the text about one of the social problems : Why many peopleare living their home in the country togo and live in the city and the problems these people cause .

-T writes the words which Sts learnt from last lesson with disordered letters on the board or uses the posters.

- Divide the class into two teams.
-Ask Sts in each team to go to the board and write the correct form of words.
- The team which is faster with more correct words win the game.

II/ Pre- reading
 ( 15’ )
T introduces the topic of the reading and present some new words to Sts.
1/ Pre-teach vocabulary
a/ Present and give the meaning of the new words
+ rural ( adj) (showing picture & explaination)
T asks Sts :
- Where is this ?
- Right, this is the countryside. So, this is the rural area
 - Rural means something deals with the coutryside
- T reads the word clearly and cloudly,
 then writes the word on the board
+urban (adj) (showing picture and give antonym)
T asks Sts :
- What is the antonym of the rural area ?
- Good ! It’s city. It’s the urban area
- So, urban means something deals with the city
- T reads the word clearly and cloudly
- T writes the word on the board
+ Strain (N, V)(explaination and giving examples)
- How do you feel before doing the examination ?
-OK, everybody often become stress and strain before doing text
- For that reason, strain means being stressed/ anxiety/ worry about some diffucult things

+ typhoon (N)(giving synonym & example)
- the synonyms of typhoon are storrm or hurricane
- It means a storrm with very strong wind

-How do you feel in the sunny season ?
- I’m, too
-So, drought means there is little or no rain for a long time/perord 
- It’s means hạn hán

+ struggle (N)(expaination & giving example)
- A country struggling for independence
- He struggled against cancer for two years
- So, struggle means to fight against S.th/ S.body to prevent a bad situation

- Where are you living ?
- Before, I’ve lived in Ha Noi. Then, I’ve moved HCM City for work . Now I’m living HCM city, too
- So, migrant means a person who moves from one places to another, especially in order to find work

- Last year, how many students were there in our class ?
- And now ?
- Now, the number of students increased from twenty eight to thirty five
- Increase means to make something greater in amount, number or value, etc

3/ Grammar Structure
Present progressive tense
a/ Giving example:
- Many people are leaving from their rural and moving to the city
- The weather is getting warmer
- Today, I’m not going to Nha Trang 
- What are you doing tonight ?
b/ Using explaination :
- Present progressive tense is used to talk about the future
c/ Expading examples:
- Let Sts give more examples 
- Let Sts analyse & try to give the form of present progressive tense by themselves
d/ Writing correct forms :
 Affirmative: S + am/is/are + V-ing
 Negative: S + am/is/are not + V-ing
Question: Am/is/are + S + V-ing
4/ Brainstorming:
- Ask Sts to think of the difficulties of farmers life
- Ask Sts to work in groups to guess how farmers deal with difficulties
